General Information: DMAA was first synthesized and later developed by Eli Lilly and company for use as a nasal decongestant that was never brought to market. DMAA in the late 2000's was a popular ingredient in dietary supplements and party pills, before bans were enacted against DMAA as an ingredient in dietary supplements due to research alleging that DMAA was not a constituent of geranium oil and some reports of adverse side effects from using it.
Botany Information: DMAA is commonly know as Methylhexanamine or 1,3-Dimethylamylamine and its chemical IUPAC name is 4-Methylhexan-2-amine. It is an alkaloid that has been tested in small amounts of Geranium (Pelargonium Graveolens) oil in South China.
